Adoptable Pets - Help and Donate
Mitzi
Mitzi, a female rat terrier, and her 2 pups were put in a cardboard box and dumped behind a vacant house. A good Samaritan brought Mitzi and her little ones to the Oakdale Animal Shelter. Her puppies were adopted right away, but Mitzi had an injured leg and needed treatment and time to heal before she could be adopted.Shelter Pet Alliance covered the cost of her initial treatment and contacted Ratbones Rescue. Mitzi spent the next couple of months recuperating with her Ratbones foster family in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mitzi was adopted and is now living with her new family in New Mexico.
Shelter Pet Alliance - Donate
In October 2004, an account was opened with Stanislaus Community Foundation, and the foundation became the fiscal sponsor for Shelter Pet Alliance.
2005 Our First Year
Improvements:
- Backyard fence was improved and made secure so dogs can run around without escaping.
- Shade cloth was installed on the south side kennels to help keep dogs cool in the south side outdoor kennels.
- Panels were being installed between the dog kennels for privacy, reduction of stress and aggression.
- A new pet scale was provided to weigh cats and small dogs.
- Posters with photos of animals at the shelter were put in the windows of over 75 local businesses to bring more awareness of the Oakdale Animal Shelter and pets in need of homes. A team of volunteers change the posters weekly.
